Garden Gathered captures a year on a flower farm with floral and garden designer Helen Leighton of Riverdale Farm, on the south coast of Western Australia. A lifelong gardener, Helen has been growing flowers for nearly three decades.

From curated rose varieties to an impressive array of annuals, perennials, and Australian natives, her cutting garden provides material year-round for her design work. Her writings are a window into the rich simplicity of life on the land; hands in the dirt, hard work, togetherness, and the symphony of birds that accompany her and Jim in the shared landscape. With a philosophy of building something over time, staying close to nature, and following a creative passion, Helen and her husband, Jim, have built their version of a beautiful life at Riverdale.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Helen Leighton is a garden designer and farmer-florist with a sustainable philosophy to growing and designing flowers for weddings and workshops at Riverdale Farm.

Her garden-gathered style and romantic aesthetic is informed by her lifelong love of gardens and her studies in Garden Design at the Inchbald School of Design in London and Floral Design with Zita Elze, and many other leading floral designers in Europe.
