Candles.......we love them! Here's our guide to help you get the most from your favourite candle!!

Everybody loves to burn a gorgeous candle in their home, but do you know how to care for your candle ? Here are some tips that will allow you to get the best experience from your candle.

If burnt properly you will get the maximum burn time for your choice of candle.

TIP 1 | The first time you burn your candle you should have it lit for the amount of time it takes the wax to melt to the sides of the vessel. This will depend on the size of your candle. At this stage blow the candle out and let it sit till it resets. Why do we do this ..... soy wax has a burn memory. Everytime you burn your candle, burn it to the edge of the vessel that way your candle won't tunnel. This gives your candle longer life!

TIP 2 | Each time you relight the candle trim the 'mushroom' from the top and make sure that the wick measures approx. 1cm. This will keep the wick in it's right place....the burning of the perfect candle is all dependent on where the wick is placed. This should be in the centre of the vessel. If the wick is too long it will burn unevenly and to one side. If the wick has moved you can reposition it when the wax is molten.

TIP 3 | It's not uncommon for there to be a little smoke around the top of a candle. It's caused by the flame and the oils in the fragrance. At the end of a candles life you will notice more smoke this is due to the fragrance oil settling on the bottom of the candle during curing time. If you find a little soot around the top of the glass don't worry, this happens when the candle burns for too long. Using a damp cloth or baby wipe clean the glass this will remove the soot.

TIP 4 | Never leave a burning candle unattended! Do not burn your candle all the way to the bottom of the vessel, leave 1cm of wax this lessens the risk of the vessel overheating when empty.

TIP 5 | Reuse the empty vessel ...... wash the vessel in hot soapy water or pop in the dishwasher, once you have removed all wax from the vessel, so that it can be recycled as a vase or jar. Many of our candles come in gorgeous vessels and look fabulous styled on your kitchen bench with herbs or your coffee table with small posies of flowers.
